Stockton Report

22nd January 2024
admin

On Saturday we welcomed our local friends and rivals from across the Tees to Parc du AcklamThe game started with the home side on the attack culminating in an unconverted try 5-0Not long after a penalty was added 8-0Unfortunately I missed both scorers not really sure how. After 25 minutes Boro break and good interplay up the left wing sees full back Brendan Hill cross the whitewash for a try, he gets up and kicks the conversion himself 15-0Our visitors are still in this game despite the score line and just before half time they slot a penalty HT 15-3Early in the second half after a case of “Handbags at Dawn” each team has a player red cardedIntense pressure from Stockton is repelled by solid Boro Defence, the ball is won back by Boro and Aeden Moloney who hits the line hard and breaks a tackle he is not held and even though he falls to his knees he keeps running, the author then realises that this lad is faster on his knees than I am on me feet lolWinger Harry Bryce is the next to have a bash at the Stockton D he takes the ball and in what I can best describe as a pinball run, bounces off defenders to make ground, the ball is recycled and spun out wide for replacement Matthew Marsay to score out wide 20-3Boro are then reduced to 13  men after a dangerous tackle earns a 10 minute break for the offenderBoro on the attack again, INTERCEPTION, and Stockton are off to the races Boro full back Brendan Hill chases the man down and tackles him in the 22′ Stockton recycle the ball and it is fed wide where Boro’s D runs out of numbers and Stockton score a well deserved try, the conversion is added 20-10A good scrummage from Boro sees them earn a penalty which Hill kicks 23-10Straight from the kick off Boro are on the attack again and fantastic interplay sees the ball spun out wide to Marsay to score. Hill adds the extras to make the final score Middlesbrough 28 Stockton 10A fantastic game with everything a local derby should have, much credit to both teamsNext week we welcome Morpeth to Parc du Acklam for a 1400 kick off
