With the monsoon finally clearing up we travelled to Halifax to play Old Brods in the Yorks Cup QF
The game starts with some amazing hands from the forwards Josh Lynas Toby Tremlett feed the ball to James Walker who runs in from 30 yards to open the scoring 0-5
Soon after the backs hands are equally as good as Sam Pearey-Gill gets the ball out wide and feeds winger Will Deeks to run in a try excellent conversion from Nathan Booth makes the score 0-12
Are we heading for a runaway victory? Not at all a very young OB side come back into the game with a driving maul to score 5-12
Two more tries from the home side takes us to half time 19-12
Andrew Baggett enters the fray after the half and slots a penalty 19-15.
Our forwards are dominating the scrummage but our hosts are next to score 26-15
From another powerful scrum, putting OB on the back foot Rohan Brown seizes an opportunity and kicks the ball on, chases it , recovers the ball and eventually the ball ends up in the hands of Harry Bryce “Brycies on Fire your defence is Terrified” who crosses the whitewash, Andrew Baggett adds the extras 26-22
A great break from centre Matthew Marsay sees the ball end up with Rohan Brown who scores a superb con from Andrew Baggett and it’s now 26-29
Another try follows when Harry Bryce receives the ball after a great run from skipper Pete Homan another con from player/coach Andrew Baggett 26-36
The scoring is finished when Boro drive a maul and cross the line with Toby Tremlett, I think coming up with the ball Andrew Baggett kicks another con Final Score Old Brodleians 26 Middlesbrough 43.
This was another cracking game and great praise must be given to Old Brods young team who pushed us all the way
Special mention from me to Alistair Lang who made some amazing contributions after coming off the bench and young Aaron Laws making his debut.
This performance puts us into the semi-finals next Saturday when we have been drawn at home to our old rivals Morley Rugby Club
