On 17 November 2024 at the Headingly Rugby Stadium in Leeds the Rugby Union and the Rugby League are coming together to play a game to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Community.

The 745 game is named after the shirt numbers worn by Rob Burrow (7), Ed Slater (4) and Doddie Weir (5), The game is a charity match that combines rugby union and rugby league rules. The hybrid game combining the two codes was the brainchild of Rob Burrow and Ed Slater. The idea of the game was well developed before Rob passed away earlier this year aged just 41. In tribute to Rob, Ed continued to develop the idea.

The game will kick-off at 3pm, with stars of both codes playing in the ground breaking game, which could become an annual event to support MND communities across the country. Names set to play in the game are Danny Cipriani, Billy ’36’ Twelvetrees, Matt Banahan, Jordan Crane, Tom Youngs and Tom Wood. These players will compete against RL legends such as Keith Senior, Adrian Morley, Luke Gale, Paul McShane, Ryan Bailey, Danny McGuire and Gareth Ellis. the officials will also be provided by both codes with Ben Thaler (RL) and Frank Murphy (RU).

The kits worn during the game have been designed by the children of Ed (RU – cherry and white) and Rob (RL – yellow).

Tickets start from just £20 for adults and £5 for juniors with discounts for group bookings. All profits from the game will go to the MND community.
