In the 3rd round of the Yorkshire Cup, Boro U14s hosted Huddersfield in an exciting encounter. The weather offered a unique mix—sunshine amidst wet and windy conditions—providing a perfect setting for rugby enthusiasts.
Huddersfield kicked off the game, but it was Boro who seized the initiative early on, with Jack Smith making an impressive run. Huddersfield refused to back down, executing a superb cross-field kick and catch to score in the corner, narrowing the gap to 19-17. The closing stages were tense, with both sides battling fiercely. However, Boro showcased their fitness and composure, sealing the win in the dying minutes with a sensational try from Jack Smith, who also converted. The match ended 26-17 in Boro’s favor.
Man of the Match honours went to Peter Jefferies, whose outstanding tackling, precise distribution, and deft handling were instrumental in Boro’s success. Meanwhile, the Unsung Hero award was deservedly given to Finlay Nicholson for his relentless work in the scrum and at the breakdown.
